How To Be An Interview King or Queen | Blog from New Day Jobs

Congratulations! You made it to the interview stage! Now what? New Day Jobs recommends these top tips for you to ace your interview and instantly boost your confidence.

  1. Prior Research - Ask for a detailed Job Description to be sent to you, such that you can familiarise yourself with the demands of the role and make sure you want the job
  2. Rehearse Examples - Prepare an example of how you meet each of the criteria in the job description, and if you don’t have an example from work history, find one from your personal life.
  3. Have a Greater Sense of Purpose - The most common question you will get is ‘Why do you want to work here?’ – ‘Because I need salary to keep my life going’. Yes, true. Honesty is good, but the organisation are looking for cultural fit. There has to be something in the company or role that interests you.
  4. Dress Appropriately - Search the Company Profile and get an idea of their dress code: their Facebook page might have pictures of staff, what are they wearing? Dress a slightly more formal than those in the office. Indeed, if it’s a private company or big business, expect to wear your best suit or business longyi and jacket.
  5. Plan your journey - Use Google Maps if possible – all of Myanmar has not been mapped yet but do the best you can.
  6. Arrive early - Sounds simple but lateness leaves a bad impression. Be early to show that you care.
  7. Be confident - Take your time setting yourself up for the interview. If you are offered a glass of water, take it. You can take a sip of water in order to resettle, gather your thoughts and allow more time to consider your response.
