Your Mission

Proximity Finance is expanding into new areas of Myanmar to serve more people in rural communities. As an Analytics Specialist and part of Product Team, you will work in the Yangon office by collaborating across different departments and Proximity Designs Data Analytic team to help for any change and innovations of the company. The data you collect, manage and analyze will help the company to make smart operations decision, develop innovative and customer focus products. By utilizing the available tools with the large source of in-depth agriculture database, you will help to bring the right data collection and analysis to support our product development.

Your primary focus will be to use data to help develop a predictive credit scoring tool for Proximity Finance to better inform Proximity Finance’s loan underwriting process by using historical data and trends. You will also use your analytical skills to build statistical analysis together with the internal team and external consultants.

Once You’re Here, You Will:

Data Analytics

  • Work with the product, digital and operations teams to develop analytical credit scoring tools
  • Responsible to maintain business data, analytic functions, modifying the report where needed and Implement new data analyzing methodologies
  • Able to review customer files to ensure the integrity of data collections and analyzing large data set
  • Support functional team for Power BI, adjustment, development and data cleaning
  • Responsible for defining the risk factors through existing data and ability to read and write R script/programming language
  • Work closely together with external consultant to build excel base credit scoring model
  • Own the developed scoring tool to adjust, develop and make perfectly useful operations needs and business as required

Ad hoc Duties

  • Adjust queries to get the data directly from the database to co-develop the report/tool/data related model together with internal/external sources
  • To be involved in the statistical analysis of the data together with the project team and suggestions for improvements
  • To monitor and evaluate the tool/model/reports from Pilot groups and branches
  • To communicate with field teams to train and make them an understanding of the model/tool/report that you developed by yourself (or) with internal/external sources
  • Add custom forms, data points to the PF using system and model as new measure requests

Demonstrated Skills/Knowledge

  • Good team-player with Strong Communication Skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of credit, underwriting and/or lending methodologies
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and dashboard software tools (fluency in Excel and experience with Power BI is a plus)
  • Experience with writing queries for relational databases (knowledge of SQL is a plus)
  • Experience with software development (knowledge of R or Python is a plus)
  • Enthusiastic to learn more about statistical methods and machine learning algorithms


  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, IT or related bachelor degree
  • Has minimum 5 years’ experiences data engineering, business intelligence or software development
  • Has experience working in banking or lending sector for minimum 2 years
  • Has a good technical understanding of credit risk management, consumer lending, and is enthusiastic in using these skills to benefit rural Myanmar
