Job Detail

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

As the Regional GNO (Germany National Office) Programme Manager, you will be responsible for providing support within Myanmar as well as within the Asia and Pacific (APAC) country programmes upon request. These responsibilities will include advising and supporting the GNO Programme Specialists in strategic project development, acquisition and monitoring of projects in the humanitarian/development/peace-building nexus. You will provide ongoing support to relevant stakeholders and support on the implementation of GNO-funded research projects both internally within APAC and in coordination with external agencies.

You will support the APAC country offices in the creation of their country disaster preparedness plans and in coordination with GNO, you will be deployable as Business Development Management (BDM) support for up to three months per year.

The Individual

We are looking to employ an innovative individual who has a solid understanding of the project management cycle in the international aid and humanitarian assistance industry. You will have proven experience in reporting and presenting to international donors and well as a solid understanding of the major German and EU donors. It is essential that you have experience in working in a humanitarian emergency response setting and that you have a good understanding of the UN cluster system and the international humanitarian system.

To be successful in this role, you will have strong management skills in coaching, problem solving and facilitation skills. You will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment. You will have strong analytical and negotiation skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively. English language skills are essential whilst any additional regional language and/or German skills are considered an asset.
