Traineeship Description

This position reports to the Special Process HOD and will be mentored by the key members of the special process functions which include heat treatment and cladding processes. The trainee will be trained on the job and eventually get to work on projects to improve on current assembly and heat treatment processes. The goal is for the trainee to take up a full time employment position within 3 to 6 months from the start of the traineeship.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Understanding Assembly and Heat Treatment Processes
  • Understand industry specifications of raw materials
  • Be familiar with challenges of space constraints while observing safety
  • Work on any/all pre-identified improvement projects to establish the following systems:
  • Assembly area expansion/ land intensification usage
  • Remote monitoring system and automation (heat treatment)
  • Cladding & buckling process improvements


Competencies Attained

  • Trainee will have a good understanding of oil & gas industry requirements with respect to material specifications
  • Trainee will be able to carry out hands-on heat treatment, assembly and cladding jobs so as to be able to embark on process improvement projects
  • Trainee will gain good understanding of various material mechanical test requirements
  • Trainee will gain knowledge on Health, Safety and Environment aspects related to special processes division
  • Trainee will be trained on how to use ERP systems
  • Trainee to work to target to become a full time employee upon successful completion of improvement projects between 3-6 months
